CongratulationsWe would like to congratulate Matthew Allen on his selection to represent Great Britain at the Special Olympic World Summer Games which will take place next year in Los Angeles. Matthew has been with Stingrays since we began in 2003 and it has been a great experience to see him improve his swimming and grow up into a lovely young gentleman. Well done Matthew!
We would also like to congratulate our new volunteer Ellie McCormick on her selection to the Welsh Triathlon squad – this is a great achievement and we are proud of you!
Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014This week will see the launch of the 20th Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow. The Games include a few selected para sporting events, one of which is swimming. Stingrays are proud that one of their young volunteers will be competing. Jack Thomas, who rarely misses a Sunday morning, will be swimming on Saturday 26th in the 200m freestyle. This will be televised on BBC1 via the red button; his heat will be at 11.05 and his final at 17.29. Hope you will all send him your support! You can follow him on twitter @JackThomas1995 – he’s always tweeting!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers who turn up on Sunday Mornings – we value your help and could not run without you! Your enthusiasm for helping our swimmers makes getting up on Sunday mornings a lot easier!!
