Session changes and possible cancellations

Swimming will be at Morriston Pool on February 16th between 2.30 and 3.30. The WNPS is not available due to an event. It’s a great opportunity to get some deep water practice for our swimmers, plus parents can grab a rare Sunday sleep in!!

Also the WNPS will not be available on March 9th and April 20th. If Morriston Pool is available on March 9th then we will train there in the afternoon instead. I’m sorry but I can’t book this in advance, so will let you all know as soon as the session is confirmed! However April 20th is Easter Sunday and we will be having a week off training!!

Our Tenth Swim Meet

It’s that time of year again when we start to prepare for our annual swim meet, and this year will be our 10th one!

The date will be April 26th and it will be at Penlan Leisure Centre.

As usual, the event will be split into 2 sessions; - the earlier session, starting at 12, for the novice/short distance swimmer, and the main event, starting at approx. 2pm, for the more experienced/adventurous swimmer.

There are events suitable for every club member, even our newer swimmers, who can be supported in the water to compete.  I would love to see all our Stingrays take part - Let me know your availability!

I am hoping that some of our parents will be happy to volunteer to help run the event; we are usually short of time-keepers or we need help with making refreshments for our officials.  We will also be very grateful for any donated items that we can raffle.

Mencap & Special Olympic National Swimming Championships 2014

This event will not be in Sheffield this year but a little closer to home in Cardiff!! It will be on May 17th and 18th at the Cardiff International Pool in Cardiff Bay.

This is for our swimmers with an IQ below 75.

Please let me know if you are interested in your son/daughter taking part? Hoping that maybe a few more of you than usual will want to compete!

Swansea Sports Awards

Congratulations to our seven Special Olympians who have been short listed for the senior team of the year award. This will take place on Feb 24th at the Grand Theatre. Tickets are available to attend from the Box Office for £6. Best wishes to them!!

Stingray Swim Fees

There are still a few parents who have not adjusted their standing order payments. This is now urgent and needs to be dealt with. You need to alter the payment via your online banking, or visit your branch and just ask to amend a standing order.

Thanks to everyone who has done this already.

Standing orders are not the same as direct debits; you are in control of payments.

We do not take the money from your account; you send the money to our account.

If you leave the club, it is your responsibility to cancel the payments.

And Finally……

There is a youth club for young people with disabilities called Mixtup. It is run in EYST on St Helens road on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 12-3. It’s for young people aged 11 to 25 who have a disability and also open for siblings too. If anyone is interested they can email Alexandra Atkins on alex@eyst.org.uk or contact her via Facebook for more info, or just drop in!!
